Royal directives lauded by Representatives Council's Bureau

Manama, Jan. 11 (BNA): The Bureau of the Council of Representatives has lauded His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s sound directives to ensure that consensus between the Executive and the Legislature is the criterion to reach an agreement on the re-structuring of government subsidies so that they benefit the eligible beneficiaries. The bureau also lauded the royal directives to set up an appropriate subsidy-restructuring mechanism and engage the National Audit Office in the process.  The Representatives Council’s Bureau, during a meeting today, stressed that the royal directives, which will strengthen the role of consensus and consultations in the state of law and institutions, promote the principle of cooperation among constitutional branches andcontribute to optimising participation in national decision-making process, reflect HM the King’s unwavering interests in, care for and constant follow-up on issues related to the nation and the citizens. The coordination meetings which will be held in the coming days between the Executive and Legislative branches, with the participation of the National Audit Office, will discuss a number of legislative and control visions to agree on new approach that ensures that subsidies will reach eligible citizens and preserve public money, the bureau said. The meetings will also discuss ways to increase the state revenue resources, while showing understanding of the economic challenges witnessed by the country and the region, as well as taking into consideration to living conditions of the citizens, particularly low and medium income ones.  The bureau affirmed that the Council of Representatives is always keen on ensuring the interests of the nation and the citizens, and seeks continuous effective cooperation with the government, led by His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, and supported by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier.
