Sarawak To Host Inaugral Sea Women Entrepreneurs' Conference

KUCHING (Sarawak, Malaysia), May 4 (Bernama) -- Sarawak state in east Malaysia will host the first South East Asia Women Entrepreneurs' Conference (WEC2012) between May 22 and 24 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching. State Minister for Welfare, Women and Family Development Fatimah Abdullah performed the soft launch for the three-day conference on Friday, which would see the participation of about 400 women entrepreneurs from Brunei, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia. Organising Chairperson Juita Drap said the conference, to be opened by Sarawak Chief Minister Abdul Taib Mahmud, would serve as a platform to empower and promote new and established women entrepreneurs in the South East Asia region. She said former International Trade and Industry Minister of Malaysia Rafidah Aziz are among renowned speakers invited to talk on the topic entitled "Resilient in Riding the Current Economic Waves." Other speakers are Aerotree Defence Sdn Bhd's Executive Director Norida Hamzah, Indonesian Businesswomen's Association chief Nita Yudi and International Trade and Industry Ministry Sarawak Director Sabariah Mohd Sofian. The conference will highlight regional economic status and opportunities, social enterprises, social media business promotions, personal and corporate image empowerment and business challenges, Juita added. -- BERNAMA
