SCE chairs meeting on biodiversity

Manama, May 2 (BNA): Chief Executive of the Supreme Council for the Environment (SCE), Dr. Mohammed Mubarak bin Daina, chaired here today the third meeting of biodiversity experts. The meeting discussed the final document related to updating the annexes of the Convention on the Conservation Wildlife and its Natural Habitats in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). Bin Daina welcomed the participants comprising experts from the relevant authorities related to conserving and protecting biodiversity in Bahrain, commending the efforts being exerted by experts in developing the outcomes of the convention. SCE chief pointed out that the states parties to the convention are committed to developing and implementing policies and activities aimed at conserving wildlife and their natural habitats, as well as to rehabilitating them and ensuring their sustainable exploitation through various legal, legislative, awareness-raising and research fields. Bahrain ratified the convention in 2002, as per Decree-Law 9/2002.
