SCW, Shura Committee discuss cooperation

Manama, June 18 (BNA): Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) Hala Al-Ansari has stressed the importance of the role played by the Legislative Branch in completing the package of legislation and laws related to women in Bahrain, in coordination with the SCW.
Al-Ansari commended the efforts exerted by the Woman and Child and Child Affairs Committee at the Shura Council to cooperate with the SCW and keenness to translate its proposals and visions into draft laws.
Al-Ansari was speaking during her meeting with the Shura Council’s Woman and Child and Child Affairs Committee’s Chairperson Hala Ramzi and several members.
The two sides highlighted the kingdom’s efforts in the field of family counseling, marital reconciliation and secure divorce. They also reviewed the role of the Family Reconciliation Office at the Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Ministry and the Family Counseling Section at the Women Support and Information Centre at the SCW in reducing divorce cases through the services delivered to beneficiaries.
They reviewed official figures and statistics indicating the drop of divorce cases in the kingdom to just 07 % as a result of the efforts exerted by the country’s institutions.
The meeting called for the need to sustain and develop the family counseling and guidance services, especially in the fields of awareness and education before and during marriage to reduce divorce cases as much as possible. They also stressed the pivotal role of the family in creating the culture of respect among its members.
