Second session of Bahrain-US Strategic Security Dialogue held

Manama, Mar. 4 (BNA): Chief of Public Security, Lieutenant-General Tariq Al Hassan, has chaired Bahrain’s side in the second session of the Strategic Security Dialogue with the United States. While the American side was headed by Deputy Coordinator for Crisis Response and Technology of the Bureau of Counterterrorism of the Department of State, Christopher A. Landberg. Bahrain Ambassador to the US, Shaikh Abdullah bin Rashid Al Khalifa, President of Customs Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalifa, CEO of the National Cybersecurity Centre and representatives from various Interior Ministry directorates, in addition to the Deputy Assistant Attorney General of US Department of Justice, Bruce C. Swartz, US Ambassador Stephen C. Bundy and some US officials participated in the virtual meeting. The Chief hailed the historical strong ties between the two friendly countries, highlighting the importance of joint counterterrorism efforts by exchanging expertise and experiences. He valued the directives of Interior Minister, General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, and his ongoing support to enhance competency and capabilities through developing training, modern technology and openness to the expertise of developed countries. The Chief highlighted the efforts of the Interior Ministry to protect security and stability and develop plans and techniques to meet regional and international security development. He briefed the attendees of the accomplishments of Bahrain in the fight against money laundering and terrorism financing. He asserted that the dialogue represents the continuation of providing high-quality security services and achieving the police work goals. Meanwhile, Landberg expressed thanks and appreciation to Bahrain for its dedication to reinforcing joined efforts in common fields. The session reviewed the latest security developments within signed memorandums of understanding and agreements.
