Security measures beefed up in Thai Far South

YALA, THAILAND, March 13 (TNA) - Security measures have been stepped up in the violence-plagued Thai Far South, as the Barisan Revolusi Nasional (BRN) insurgent group marks the 57th anniversary of its establishment. Police in the southernmost Yala Province have beefed up security measures throughout the province and the officers are on high alert on Monday to check suspicious persons and vehicles at four key checkpoints, leading to the provincial heart following a warning from security agencies. Local authorities also asked for cooperation from the public to provide police with tip-offs immediately if they find any suspicion or any person with arrest warrants. The local police assured those who provide tip-offs will be safely protected and their identity will be kept confidential. (TNA)
