'Seri Chenang Resort' to be Global Brand Showcasing Malaysian Culture

KUALA LUMPUR, June 21 (Bernama) -- Seri Chenang Resort & Spa Langkawi, which will officially open its door for business on June 30 in Langkawi, Kedah, is set to become an icon in Malaysia's global brand as it reflects the colours, flavours, sounds and sights of Malay culture and heritage, said Tourism Minister Dr Ng Yen Yen. Set against the backdrop of 'home away from home experience' amidst luxury settings but yet traditional, Ng was optimistic that 'Seri Chenang' would capture the eyes of the world, particularly the luxury European market. "Seri Chenang is all set to be a global trendsetter in stamping its mark as a local boutique resort embedded with true Malay influence and heritage, thus introducing and sharing Malaysia's many unique traditional values to the world. "By introducing six villas replicating Malay traditional houses from six states of Malaysia namely Rumah (House) Terengganu, Rumah Pahang, Rumah Negeri Sembilan, Rumah Melaka, Rumah Selangor and Rumah Kedah that come with 10 suites, will not only be an eye opener for up market foreign tourists but also our local niche travellers," she said at the media soft launch of Seri Chenang Resort & Spa Langkawi, here, Thursday. During Ng's speech that was read by the ministry's secretary-general Dr Ong Hong Peng, she said this certainly helped complement Tourism Malaysia's planning and positioning, especially in introducing authentic Malay experience in a luxurious setting, to the world. -- BERNAMA
