Seven terror suspects sentenced to 15 years in jail

Manama, Oct. 27 (BNA): Terror Crime Chief Prosecutor Isa Al Ruwaie said the High Criminal Court sentenced today seven suspects to 15 years in jails and ordered them to pay collectively BD 10,200 in compensation for damaged items. They were accused of attempted murder, arson for terror purposes, rioting and possessing Molotov cocktails.
The Public Prosecution received on December 17 a notification that a group of outlaws had attacked a car near Karzakan roundabout with Molotov Cocktails, setting it ablaze and injuring its driver.
Investigations led to the identification of seven suspects who had planned alongside others to attack the victim's car and incur damage to it. They gathered in the area and ambushed the car by Karzakan roundabout with Molotov cocktails.
The driver sustained burns and an arrest warrant was issued to bring the culprits to justice. Two of the suspects were arrested and questioned and they admitted to the charges leveled against them.
The Public Prosecution relied in its investigation on verbal evidence, including the prosecution witnesses' testimonies, as well as technical evidence.
The suspects were referred to the High Criminal Court for trial while providing them with all legal guarantees. The court issued the verdict after hearing the cases in the presence of their lawyers.
The convicts can challenge the sentences before the Court of Appeal and the Court of Cassation if there are any legal reasons for the appeal, in line with the legal guarantees provided by Bahrain's judicial system.
