Severe weather halts trips to islands in Krabi
KRABI, Oct 23 (TNA) – Mu Ko Lanta National Park in Thailand’s Krabi province announced that boat trips to its nearby islands in the Andaman Sea have been suspended for two days due to strong wind waves.
Acting park director, Kankasem Meesuk, said boat trips to snorkeling sites near the park -- Ko Rok Nok and Rok Nai, Ko Ngai, Ko Ha or Ko Tukon Lima, and Hin Daeng and Hin Muang -- have been halted temporarily between Oct 23 and 24 following a severe weather warning issued by the Meteological Department.
The department warned of heavy rains and strong wind waves as high as three meters influenced by the prevailing southwest monsoon over the Andaman Sea, the upper Gulf of Thailand, and Thailand’s southern region.
The authorities advised small boats in the Andaman Sea to remain ashore and asked local tour operators to suspend their services until tomorrow to ensure tourists’ safety. (TNA)
