SG of GCC Stresses Importance of GCC-Chinese Relations and Keenness to Strengthen Cooperation to Serve Common Interests

Wuxi, China, Jan. 12, 2022, SPA -- The Secretary-General of the Riyadh-based Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Dr. Nayef Falah Al-Hajraf stressed the importance of the GCC-Chinese relations, and the GCC’s keenness to strengthen cooperation and friendship between the two sides in various fields in order to achieve common interests. During a meeting held here today between the GCC Secretary-General and the State Councilor of the People’s Republic of China Wang Yi, the two sides tackled the outcomes of the GCC-Chinese ministerial meeting, which was held on November 9, 2020, as well as the meeting that took place between Dr. Al-Hajraf and Wang Yi in Riyadh on March 24, 2021. They also reviewed the course of free trade negotiations between the two parties, and the preparation for the tenth round of negotiations, stressing the importance of advancing the issue of free trade negotiations between the two parties, taking into consideration that China is the first trading partner of the GCC, in addition to the latest developments at the regional and international levels. --SPA
