Shaikh Nasser deputises Shaikh Khalid to open Futsal event

Manama, Mar. 31 (BNA): His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HM the King’s Representative for Charity Work and Youth Affairs, Chairman of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), has deputised His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Athletics Association, to attend the opening ceremony of the Bahrain World Challenge of Futsal Championship for 24 hours that was held on Friday evening. HH Shaikh Nasser said that the Championship is an initiative that will enhance the Kingdom’s name on World Sport’s Map, and enter its name in Guinness Book of World Records. HH Shaikh Khalid affirmed that the challenge is in line with His Majesty the King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s directives and vision. Such events and initiatives showcase Bahrain’s potentials and place it among advanced countries, as well as highlight Bahraini youth’s love of challenge, he said. On the other hand, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Assistant Secretary General and BOC Secretary-General, Abdulrahman Askar expressed pleasure for bringing this event to Bahrain and setting a record for the longest futsal tournament with continuous play for 24 hours. He said the tournament is being played in accordance to the rules and regulations of football’s world governing body (FIFA), and it took three months of preparations to put the idea of this event into action.
