Shura Chairman hails HRH Crown Prince, Prime Minister's speech in COP26

Manama, Nov. 9 (BNA): Shura Council Chairman Ali bin Saleh Al-Saleh hailed His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister's speech at the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26). The chairman noted that the goals announced in His Majesty the King's speech at the opening of the fourth session of the fifth legislative term regarding the prominent global challenges presented by climate change, reflect the visions of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. Al Saleh praised the Kingdom’s initiatives announced by HRH the Crown Prince regarding the Kingdom’s contribution to achieving zero neutrality by 2060 and reducing emissions by 30% in 2035 through decarbonization and enhancing energy efficiency, doubling the sources of renewable energy, decarbonizing solutions by quadrupling the mangrove trees, doubling the number of trees in general in Bahrain and direct investment in carbon sequestration technologies. The chairman highlighted the cooperation between the public and private sectors, which reflects the level of progress made by Bahrain in the field of achieving sustainable development goals related to the environment and the reduction of climate change. He wished for more achievements to enhance the Kingdom’s position in international environmental indicators, stressing that the efforts of the Kingdom will continue to preserve the rights of future generations and achieve global environmental security.
