Shura Council calls for patriotic stances to protect nation

Manama, May 12 (BNA): The Shura Council, during its 23rd regular weekly session, held under the chairmanship of Ali bin Saleh Al-Saleh, stressed that the Kingdom of Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, is on the right track towards attaining more landmark achievements at all levels. The session praised the role played by all social segments, official, local and civil society organisations to consolidate the spirit of national action to serve the values established by the National Action Charter and the Constitution. The statement, read by the Secretary-General of the Shura Council, Chancellor Osama Al-Asfoor, stressed that based on the principle of respect for the Constitution and the Law, and the need to affirm the unity of the Bahraini society and to protect it from sedition and from anything that poses a threat to the milestone achievements attained during HM the King’s prosperous era, underlined the importance of adopting national stances vis-à-vis attempts to undermine the nation’s sovereignty, security and stability through interference in its domestic affairs. The Council denounced the silence of some parties at a time that requires commitment to the national fundamentals and patriotic stances to preserve the gains of the nation. The Shura Council called on scholars and clerics to be at the forefront of those who support taking patriotic stances in light of the current circumstances and challenges the region and the world are going through. The statement urged the Bahraini society to be committed to the national identity, as well as to the loyalty to the nation and its leadership, being among the main religious and moral features that have always characterised the Bahraini people. After that, the session endorsed a draft-law on approving the General State Budget for the fiscal years 2019-2020, and four decree-laws.
