Shura President congratulates UAE Speaker

Manama, Nov.18 (BNA): Shura Council Chairman Ali bin Saleh Al-Saleh sent a cable of congratulations to Dr. Amal Al-Qubaisi who was elected as Speaker of the UAE Federal National Council (FNC). Al-Saleh commended the unprecedented historic achievement as Dr. Al-Qubaisi made history, becoming the first woman in the Arab world to be elected as speaker of a national council. "This unprecedented victory is a source of pride which builds on the UAE landmark development achievements", he said, paying tribute to the UAE leadership for their efforts to empower women. Shura Council Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee Chairperson Dalal Al-Zayed also congratulated Dr. Al-Qubaisi, hailing Emirati women's electoral success.
