Silk-farming in Kaesong City of DPRK

Pyongyang, July 5 (KCNA) -- Kaesong City of the DPRK wages a dynamic struggle to increase the cocoon production. Sericulture officials and workers in the city have pushed ahead with the introduction of a scientific silkworm-rearing method, thus increasing the production of spring cocoons by 1.2 times as compared to the same period of last year. The officials scrupulously organized and directed a campaign for increased mulberry leaves and cocoon production under stepwise seasonal plans. And the workers created ten hectares of new mulberry fields and planted more than a hundred thousands of good species of mulberry trees. They now make preparations for autumn cocoon production. -0-
