Six more films added to Iranian lineup for Fajr festival
TEHRAN,Jan.15(MNA) -- Six films received approval from the selecting board of the Fajr International Film Festival after the directors and producers of the films agreed to modify them for screening at the event.
“No Farewell”, Ahmad Amini’s film about the life story of a pop star and “Needlessly and Causelessly”, Abdorreza Kahani’s drama about the confusion of anIranian family after relocation are among the films.
The board also gave nods to “Ziba and I” directed by Fereidun Hassanpur, “A Line of Truth” by Ali Vazirian, “Salute to Angels” by Farzad Ajdari and “The Receiver” by Mehrdad Ghaffarzadeh.
A number of other films also received the board’s approval for screening in the noncompetitive section of the festival.
Festival secretary Mohammad Khazaii had previously said he would personally rule out films “that will likely provoke protests.”
The board and the organizers of the event had deemed the films “provocative”, but the directors and producers agreed to cut some scenes to meet the expectations of the organizers.
“Golden Leashes”, about the unrest that erupted after Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was declared the winner of the June 12 election in 2009, has been approved for screening in the noncompetitive section of the festival.
The film was directed by Abolqasem Talebi, who is a staunch defender of Ahmadinejad’s ideas and governmental plans in his works.
Last week, 26 films were announced in the Iranian film competition section at the 30th Fajr International Film Festival that will be held in Tehran from February 1 to 11.
