Six Palestinian Students Studying At Malaysia's USM

KOTA BAHARU (Kelantan, Malaysia), July 10 (Bernama)-- Six Palestinian students will undergo a specialist study programme in Orthopaedics at the Medical Science Study Centre, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Kubang Kerian here beginning September. They are Ahmed Akram Mohammed Abu Harbid, Mohammed Jamal Ibrahim Hamdan, Omar Soubhi Mahmoud Roubi, Abed ElRaheem Ahmad Mahmoud Allouh, Mousa Ismael Sobhe Muqat and Yousef Jamal Ahmed Abbas. The Director of the USM Health Campus, Professor Dr Mafauzy Mohamed said the enrolment of the six students followed the signing of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between USM and the Malaysian Charity Foundation two years ago to assist the people of Palestine who had lost their limbs due to the war. "The six students will be trained to make artificial limbs including legs and hands as many of the Palestinian people had lost their limbs as a result of the war. "Under this programme, we can assist the people there which is in line with the responsibilities of the university to champion the cause of the oppressed," he told reporters after the handing over ceremony of the Palestinian Students by the Malaysian Charity Foundation to USM, here Monday.
