SOCAR prepares to open filling station after rebranding in Switzerland

Azerbaijan, Baku, May 16 / Trend, E. Ismayilov / The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) will open its first filling station following the rebranding in the Swiss district of Kreuzlingen in the Lake Constance area in the end of May, a SOCAR Energy Switzerland said today. According to the report, the official opening of the station is scheduled for May 25 and 26, 2013. U.S. Exxon Mobil transferred the assets of its Swiss branch Esso Switzerland to SOCAR on July 1, 2012 on the basis of the agreement signed in November 2012. The total cost of the assets acquired by SOCAR in Switzerland is $330 million. More than 160 SOCAR filling stations will be operating in Switzerland by late 2013. Following the acquisition of Esso Switzerland, SOCAR has taken over a retail network of the company's branch that specializes in fuel marketing for industry and wholesale clients. This division is responsible for household fuel and balloon gas sale to independent suppliers throughout Switzerland. Also under its banner, SOCAR has taken over the Wangen-Olten gas filling station, a number of filling stations and joint ventures specializing in aircraft fuelling at Geneva and Zurich airports and the Swiss Provision and Supply Company that controls joint ventures managing terminals and pipelines.
