Social work conference concludes in Bahrain

Manama, Sept.9 (BNA): The curtain fell today on the first international conference for excellence in social and voluntary work. The Bahrain Society for Voluntary Work co-organized the event with Princess Seeta bint Abdulaziz Al Saud Award for Distinction in Social Work in Saudi Arabia under the patronage of Labour and Social Development Minister Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan. Princess Seeta bint Abdulaziz Al-Saud Award for Distinction in Social Work Dr. Fahad Al Maghlouth attended the final session, along with the Arab-African Youth Council Secretary General Dr. Awadh Hassan Ibrahim, members of the diplomatic corps and representatives of non-governmental organisations from Bahrain, GCC countries and Arab states. The minister honoured the keynote speakers who conducted the conference. He toured the exhibition which was held on the sidelines of the conference. Civil society institutions working the field of social and voluntary work from Bahrain and the GCC member countries and other Arab countries took part in the conference and exhibition. Addressing the final session, the minister stressed the strides achieved in the field of voluntary work in the Kingdom of Bahrain thanks to the development of the civil society institutions. He stressed the importance of the Voluntary Work Development Centre, which was established by the Ministry of the Labour and Social Development to provide technical support to non-governmental organisations, set up a database to serve as a link between the public and private sectors. The Bahrain Society for Voluntary Work chairman Abdulaziz Rashid Al-Sindi, Princess Seeta bint Abdulaziz Al-Saud Award for Distinction in Social Work Dr. Fahad Al Maghlouth and Arab-African Youth Council Secretary General Dr. Awadh Hassan Ibrahim also addressed the ceremony.
