Solutions to Ease Shortage of Black Clothes
BANGKOK, Oct 22 (TNA) - Various Thai agencies come up with programs and solutions to ease the shortage of black clothes for mourning the death of King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
Many people Friday flocked the Department of International Trade Promotion in Bangkok to buy black outfits in a special fair on the first day of the four-day fair. Sixty clothes manufacturers offer black clothes to the public at factory prices. The Department believes direct retail will help ease the problem and provide economical solutions to consumers since.
Thailand has declared a year of mourning for the beloved King died on Thursday, October 13. Since then, demand for black clothing has soared with reports of shortages and sometimes inflated prices.
Some agencies and individuals also offer free dyeing as an alternative for low-income families as many retailers have run out of black clothing entirely.
People can bring their own clothes or donate old ones to others at several locations. Government agencies have arranged a cloth dyeing workshop to teach people to dye their own as well. (TNA)
