Songkhla beefs up security ahead of Songkran
SONGKHLA, April 6 (TNA) -- Police in the southern province of Songkhla beefed up security to ensure better safety for Songkran festival goers this year, where checkpoints would be organised and surveillance would be carried out in every alley and roads to prevent any untoward incidents.
Commander of the Songkhla Provincial Police Pol Maj Gen Preeda Piamwaree said that apart from setting up checkpoints on main roads leading into the city, police in every area were also ordered to increase stricter surveillance of the perimetres to ensure safety for the local people and tourists who would arriving into the city to enjoy the water festival, especially in the provincial seat, Hat Yai and Sadao districts.
Additionally, more traffic police would be mobilised to provide more conveniences for commuters.
Meanwhile, an integrate force between concerned security officials has carried out an inspection in business areas and communities of Sadao district, where they have found a large number of motorcycles without license plates, prompting authorities to ask the owners to acquire the legal registration for the motorbikes before using in order to prevent unexpected incidents.
