Songkhla Zoo welcomes new baby tapir

SONGKHLA, THAILAND, October 7 (TNA) - Songkhal Zoo in the Thai Far South has welcomed a healthy baby tapir and will show off the newborn to international visitors next month. Songkhla Zoo Director Chalermwut Kasetsomboon told journalists on Friday that the baby boy tapir was born on September 19. Tapir is on the list of protected animals in Thailand. The wild species has a funny looking face with a trunk like an elephant, body like a pig with long legs, short tail like a bear and hooves like a rhino. (TNA)
