Southern Governor invited to Silk Road Organization conference

Manama, Sep. 4 (BNA): Southern Governor Shaikh Abdulla bin Rashid Al Khalifa today received Head of UNIDO Investment Promotion Programme, Dr. Hashim Hussain, who handed over an invitation to participate in the International Silk Road Conference to be held in the middle of current month at the Headquarters of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in Vienna, Austria. The Southern Governor lauded the UNIDO initiatives to promote development projects, entrepreneurs and small and emerging enterprises around the world. The two sides discussed the Kingdom of Bahrain's participation in the event as the first Arab country to acceded to the Silk Road Organization after the participation of the Southern Governorate in the conference held in last May in the Chinese Fuzhou city. They also discussed aspects of cooperation to host the Silk Road Conference in Bahrain. Dr. Hussain hailed Bahrain's efforts in promoting a number of projects and initiatives aimed at supporting the UN's efforts to preserve Bahrain's cultural locations. He stressed the UNIDO contribution to promoting Bahrain's sustainable development programmes.
