Speaker’s statement on International Day of Peace

Manama, Sept. 21 (BNA): Council of Representatives Speaker Fawziya bint Abdulla Zainal paid tribute to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa for turning Bahrain into a beacon of peace, coexistence and tolerance between all religions, doctrines and sects and building a cohesive society. She praised Bahrain’s landmark strides, commending the dedicated efforts exerted by the Government, chaired by His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa. She also paid tribute to His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister for his support. She hailed Bahrain’s deep-rooted record of peaceful coexistence, cultural, religious and ethnic plurality, which was further consolidated through the pioneering reform process led by HM the King, hailing royal initiatives to foster peace, tolerance and coexistence, being a key pillar of national development. The Speaker made the statement on the occasion of the International Day of Peace which falls every year on the 21st of September. The 2019 edition is being held this year under the theme “Climate Action for Peace”. She said that the legislative branch would cooperate with the Government to consolidate national achievements, implement international agreements and conventions in line with the global momentum aim to strengthen security and stability and achieve peace between peoples and societies.
