Speaker granted 'Parliamentary Distinction' award

Cairo, Apr. 6 (BNA): Speaker of the Council of Representatives, Ahmed bin Ibrahim Al-Mulla, was granted the “Parliamentary Distinction” award by for the category of the parliamentary councils’ speakers. The award was conferred on Al-Mulla during the closing session of the 27th Arab Inter-parliamentary Union (AIPU), in recognition of his parliamentary contributions and achievements, as well as for his effective role at regional and international parliamentary gatherings. The award was also granted to Al-Mulla for the landmark achievements attained by Bahrain’s Council of Representatives, under his leadership, at all levels, including pioneering parliamentary initiatives, projects and programmes. Speaker Al-Mulla expressed appreciation to AIPU for the honouring, dedicating the prestigious award to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the patron of the Reform Project and the democratic process in kingdom. He pointed out that the Council of Representatives is one of the fruits of the pioneering Reform Project, and has enjoyed the full support of the kingdom’s leaders, stressing that such a care has been the great guarantor for the parliamentary achievements. Al-Mulla said that the exploit is an achievement for Bahrain and its people, as it consolidates the kingdom’s democratic and parliamentary status at the Arab and international levels.
