Speaker hails Arab League's role

Manama, Mar. 22 (BNA): Speaker of the Council of Representatives, Fawzia bint Abdulla Zainal, has asserted that thanks to the sound visions of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the kingdom is steadfast in strengthening joint Arab action and solidarity, as well as influential presence in the regional and global arenas, in order to defend just Arab causes and interests, push comprehensive Arab economic development forward and achieve the aspirations of all Arab peoples. In a statement marking the 77th anniversary of the Arab League, Speaker Zainal said that despite the multiple challenges it has faced since its establishment on March 22, 1945, the pan-Arab organisation has been committed to its charter, aimed at safeguarding Arab countries’ political, economic, social and cultural relations, as well as national sovereignty, and confirmed its ability to ensure the continuity of joint Arab action. She indicated that the establishment of the Arab League and the ratification of its charter reflected the strong keenness of Arab countries’ leaders to boost the distinguished relations among Arab countries, and meet the aspirations of Arab peoples for more unity and integration in order to face all challenges facing the Arab Nation. She underlined the Representatives Council’s unwavering keenness to use legislative instruments to enhance its cooperation with Arab countries’ legislative councils and parliaments, through activating the role of parliamentary diplomacy and developing joint Arab action mechanisms at all levels.
