Speaker highlights parliamentary diplomacy's role with European Parliament

Brussels, May 17 (BNA): Speaker Fawzia bint Abdullah Zainal met with Vice-Chair Delegation for relations with the Arab Peninsula (DARP) Marc Tarabella at the European Parliament. They discussed inter-parliamentary cooperation between Bahrain and the European Parliament, and employing it in a way that strengthens Bahrain's relations with EU countries. The two parties reviewed regional and international issues of common interest. Zainal affirmed that Bahrain, under the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, is keen to use parliamentary diplomacy to build friendly relations, spread the culture of dialogue, and dedicate efforts to enhance cooperation with friendly parliaments. She noted the importance of communication between Bahrain and the European Parliament, enhancing cooperation, continuing bilateral visits, and upgrading the rules of joint work, based on mutual respect and achieving common interests. DARP Vice-Chair praised the growing relations between Bahrain and the European Parliament, stressing the aspiration to enhance partnership and communication. He affirmed that the European Parliamentarians' impressions on Bahraini delegations' recent visits is positive and motivating for further coordination.
