Speaker meets Digital Cooperation Organisation Secretary-General

Islamabad, Nov. 19 (BNA): Speaker of the Council of Representatives, Fawzia bint Abdulla Zainal, has affirmed that His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s visions and directives have made “digital transformation” a pioneering national work approach in all fields of comprehensive development in the kingdom.
She highlighted the keenness of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to achieve HM the King’s aspirations, as reflected in the efforts of ministries and state departments to speed up the process of digital transformation, as well as in the quality projects and initiatives in the fields of public services, youth and women, making Bahrain’s experience in this regard a remarkable success story.
She stressed the Representatives Council’s keenness to cope with the royal aspirations through implementing digital transformation in parliamentary work.
Zainal was speaking as she met here today the Secretary-General of the Digital Cooperation Organisation (DCO), Deema Al-Yahya, as part of her official visit to Pakistan.
During the meeting, attended by the parliamentary delegation accompanying her, the Speaker valued highly the efforts exerted by Saudi Arabia to establish DCO, expressing pride in the efforts of Bahrain and other founding member states.
She praised DCO’s role, goals and vision aimed at ensuring a better digital future, through using technology for all by supporting and empowering women, youth and entrepreneurs to serve sustainable development goals.
The two sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the Council of Representatives and DCO in various fields.
Deema Al-Yahya lauded Bahrain’s support to DCO’s efforts to achieve a digital future for everyone, noting that the kingdom is an integral part of DCO and one of its founding members.
She asserted that Bahrain boasts a distinguished experience in digital transformation, highlighting its effective efforts to achieve regional and international complementarity and cooperation in such a vital field.
The Digital Cooperation Organisation was established in 2020 by seven member states to drive greater collaboration and cooperation across entrepreneurship, innovation, business growth and employment in a shared digital economy.
Its seven founding member nations are Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Pakistan, Nigeria and Oman.
By promoting common interests and collaborative digital transformation, the DCO's mission is to enable members to empower women, youth and entrepreneurs to accelerate growth across the digital economy, and achieve greater prosperity by promoting common interests and collaborative digital transformation.
