Speaker receives Qatari rights official

Manama, May 17 (BNA): Council of Representatives Speaker Ahmed bin Ibrahim Al-Mulla today received Qatar's National Human Rights Committee Secretary-General Mariam bint Abdulla Al-Ateyya and stressed the importance of GCC cooperation in local, regional and international arenas and coordination and partnership with watchdogs. The meeting was attended by National Institution of Human Rights (NIHR) representatives. The Qatari delegation is in Bahrain to attend a training course organised by NIHR. "Human rights in the GCC member states derive their principles from the Sharia and Gulf constitutions", he said, hailing Bahrain's achievements, initiatives and programmes.
