Speaker stresses Bahraini-UK anti-terror coordination

Manama, Oct. 3 (BNA): Speaker of the Council of Representatives, Fawzia bint Abdulla Zainal, has stressed that Bahrain and the United Kingdom share similar stances, and that they are constantly cooperating and coordinating to combat terrorism, strengthen the pillars of regional security and stability, as well as ensure the freedom of navigation in the region. The speaker pointed out that Bahrain is on the right path towards attaining more landmark achievements during His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s Comprehensive Reform Era, adding that the kingdom attaches great interest in developing all sustainable development fields, meeting the aspirations of its people, increasing investment opportunities and enhancing its relations with brotherly and friendly countries. She made the statements while receiving here today the Member of the UK House of Lords, Lord George Robertson. The speaker discussed with Lord Robertson ways to enhance joint parliamentary cooperation, in addition to issues of mutual interest. Lord George Robertson lauded the progress achieved by Bahrain in various fields, stressing the development and depth of the Bahraini-British relations, as well as their cooperation in various fields. He underlined his country’s keenness on consolidating Bahrain’s security and stability, combating terrorism and rejecting interference in its domestic affairs. He highlighted the importance of cooperation between Bahrain’s Council of Representatives and the UK’s House of Commons and House of Lords to exchange expertise and visits between joint friendship committees, in addition to coordinating stances at international parliamentary gatherings.
