Speaker urges unity to defeat terror

Manama, Apr.16 (BNA): Council of Representatives Ahmed bin Ibrahim Al-Mulla urged commitment to national unity to protect the nation from terrorism, extremism and violence. Led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, Bahrain will continue the march, defeat the scourge of terror and protect the reform project and the democratic process. The Speaker urged the enforcement of the law against anyone who perpetrates acts of terrorism that target Bahrain and its people. He stressed the solidarity of the Muslim states with Bahrain in the 13th Islamic Summit which was held in Istanbul, warning against blatant foreign interference and acts of terror which are still targeting the nation. He extended deepest condolences to the Ministry of Interior and the bereaved family of the policeman who fell in the line of duty in a terrorist attack in the village of Karbabad. The Speaker wished the wounded policeman quick recovery, reiterated the parliament’s unwavering support to the measures taken by the Ministry to maintain security and stability and protect lives and properties. "The terrorists and those who aid and abet them will not achieve their designs, nor will they undermine the reform project or intimidate the loyal people of Bahrain", he said, saying that perpetrators of terrorist and criminal acts will be held accountable. He hailed strong-willed Bahraini people for their firm loyalty to the homeland, allegiance to the leadership and readiness to defend the nation and stave off anyone targeting national interest. The Speaker described the fight terrorism and its proponents as a collective responsibility, stressing the need to support security forces and the Ministry of Interior. The Kingdom of Bahrain, he said, is capable of overcoming all challenges to ensure a better future for the nation.
