Special panel holds meeting

BANGKOK, October 26 (TNA) - The Thai government's special panel has held a meeting to discuss public security measures, especially those in the Thai Far South. Thai Deputy Defence Minister General Udomdet Sitabutr chaired the meeting in Bangkok on Wednesday, in which relevant authorities participated. General Udomdet acknowledged that persistent violent incidents in the Thai Deep South need times for solution. The deputy defence minister said the special panel, headed by he himself, will evaluate the updated situation in the troubled southernmost Thai region to be reported to the higher authorities quarterly.
