Stolen Malaysian Vehicles Found In Thailand

By Jamaluddin Muhammad BANGKOK, July 9 (Bernama) -– Fifteen stolen Malaysian vehicles which were smuggled into Thailand last January, were returned to the Malaysian police here on Sunday. Malaysian Deputy Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar received the 14 Toyota Hilux and Toyota Fortuner from representatives of the Thai authorities at the Thailand Customs headquarters here. The Thai police -- with cooperation from the Thai Customs Department which acted on information from the Malaysian police -- seized the stolen vehicles which were being shipped at Bangkok Port in Klongtoey and Chabang Port in Chonburi last January. The 15 vehicles were reported stolen in Selangor and Pahang. The Thai Customs Director-General, who was represented by Bangkok Port Customs Director Vichak Apirugnunchai, Leam Chabang Port Custom Director Paisal Chuen Jit and a representative of the Thai police, handed over the vehicles to Khalid at the ceremony. Deputy Head of Mission of the Malaysian Embassy in Thailand, Tajul Aman Mohamad, was also present during the ceremony. Khalid also watched a rugby tournament between the police of the two countries, held at the Royal Thai Navy Stadium, Sattahip in Chonburi on Saturday. -- BERNAMA
