Support to youth's media creative potentials stressed

Manama, May 5 (BNA): Information Minister Ali bin Mohammed Al Romaihi stressed the ministry’s keenness on tapping on the youth’s capabilities and creative potentials. He was speaking during participation in the open meeting and concluding ceremony of ON AIR festival which was organised by the University of Bahrain (UoB)’s Media Club. He underlined the youth’s outstanding contribution to developing work at the Ministry of Information and other sectors. He paid tribute to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier for their unwavering support to the youngsters’ efforts and role in pressing ahead with development in all fields. The Information Minister pointed out the danger of the surging number of media and political activists in the Arab community which requires a practical solution to this phenomenon and other ones that tarnish the reputation of Arab media. He also spotlighted other recent issues which are alien to Bahrain’s inherent traditions, stressing that some channels are trying to impose such abusive cultures through social media networks. He paid tribute to the Bahraini people for their strong patriotism and sense of belonging, pointing out that the entire world knows well their peaceful nature and high awareness. He also underscored Bahrain’s strong diplomatic ties with the rest of the world, pointing out attempts to undermine this reputation by tarnishing the nation’s image. The Information Minister underlined freedom of expression in Bahrain which is guaranteed by the constitution and constantly stressed by HM the King. He also pointed out the government’s keenness on boosting it without contravening the traditions and ethics of the Bahraini community. He advised the media and public relations students at the University of Bahrain to work hard on honing their talents and academic skills and enrich their experience by participating in various academic functions. He emphasised Bahrain’s powerful internal front which enabled the kingdom to overcome various challenges throughout its history. The Information Minister honoured the festival’s sponsors, participants and winners, wishing them further success.
