Supreme Environment Council participates in BIGS 2016

Manama, Feb. 29 (BNA): The Supreme Environment Council took part in Bahrain International Garden Show (BIGS) 2016 which is held under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. The exhibition was opened by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and President of the Consultative Council of the National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD). BIGS focuses this year on agricultural concepts and skills of looking after trees in order to highlight the right agricultural practices and show how to prevent mistakes to get healthy and fruitful trees. The Supreme Environment Council's participation in the show is considered as an opportunity to project the council's goals and output, including boosting agricultural development. The council's pavilion focused on the "palm tree" topic and its importance in protecting the environment and maintaining the ecological system. Visitors were informed about ways of taking care of palm trees and benefiting from agricultural residues to get organic fertilizers. The pavilion also showcased local fruitful trees and ways of planting and taking care of them, being a key element in economic and agricultural development in Bahrain.
