Suspect remanded in custody for defamatory tweets

Manama, Mar. 30 (BNA): Northern Governorate Chief Prosecutor, Mohammed Salah, has said that the Public Prosecution was notified by the Cyber Crime Directorate that a suspect had set up a twitter account which he used to post tweets that defamed persons and incited sedition. The Public Prosecution questioned the suspect after his arrest and seizure of his devices, he said. The suspect admitted his connection to the twitter account and the tweets posted on it when he was presented with the results of the investigation into his case, he added. The Public Prosecution remanded the defendant in custody for seven days pending further investigation, as well as the examination of his electronic devices.
