Swiss graphic designer Troxler exhibiting works in Tehran

TEHRAN,Dec. 11(MNA) -- Swiss graphic designer Niklaus Troxler is displaying a collection of his works in an exhibition that opened at the Iranian Artists Forum on Friday. The exhibit is part of the program arranged in commemoration of the sixth anniversary of the death of Iranian graphic designer Morteza Momayyez who is considered as the father of modern graphic design in Iran. Troxler, a world-renowned artist specializing in poster design, corporate design, illustration and architectural murals, is one of Momayyez’s friends. Ambassador Livia Leu Agosti, prominent designers Amrollah Farhadi and Ebrahim Haqiqi, artist Aidin Aghdashlu and Troxler himself were among the participants of the opening ceremony. “Troxler has held many exhibits across the world and we are happy he is here with his works. This shows great potential of Iranian graphic designs,” Anushirvan, Momayyez’s son said at the opening ceremony. He also said that interested youth will also get an opportunity to show their talents to the international artists in a workshop arranged on the side section. A selection of works by Momayyez has also been put on show in the Mirmiran Gallery of the forum. Haqiqi, a friend of Momayyez, next talked about a recently published book which contains his detailed interview with Momayyez. Aghdashlu recalled old memoirs of Momayyez and regarded him as an individual who not only was talented and influential, but also was an idealist. “Momayyez worked hard since he was a child. He was an idealist and was a credit to the field of graphic design.” Managing Director of the forum Majid Sarsangi called Momayyez a great artist who raised the level of Iranian graphic designs in the world. Last year, Troxler’s compatriot Bruno Monguzzi held an exhibition in honor of his friend Momayyez in Tehran. French graphic designer Pierre Bernard also organized a showcase in Tehran in 2008 in commemoration of Momayyez. Momayyez died of prostate cancer in Tehran on November 26, 2005. He was the chairman of the board of directors of the Iranian Graphic Designers Society from 1988 to 2004. The ceremony was brought to an end where an effigy of Momayyez was unveiled at the entrance of the Momayyez Gallery.
