Syrian women wait for help from world

ISTANBUL (A.A) - A member of the Union of Syrian Civil Society Organizations in charge of women's affairs, Lubane Tayfur, said Friday that everyone not supporting the Assad regime in Syria was declared as an "enemy". In an exclusive interview with the Anadolu Agency (AA), Tayfur said that their wish was to see the international forces and the Arab League to be on the side of the Syrian women and do whatever was necessary to end the tyranny in Syria. The Assad regime, without fear, uses all types of weapons on its people. As Syrian women, we have given martyrs for our country. We sacrificed our children. We are the engine of the Syrian cause. We have a great responsibility to embrace the Syrian cause, Tayfur noted. All of the women in the Middle East support Syrian women. Yet all of this support is not sufficient to end tyranny in Syria. Our hope is to see the international community and the Arab League on the side of the Syrian women and do what was necessary to end the tyranny in Syria. We expect strong Muslim societies to be on the side of the Syrian women and help the Syrian women get over their problems, Tayfur underlined. All financial and spiritual assistance would strengthen the opposition in Syria and give hope to the people, Tayfur said. It is almost impossible to send the aid collected overseas to Syria. There are hundreds of Syrians living in Jordan which opened its doors in these difficult days. Since we can not send aid to Syria, all aid materials collected get distributed to Syrians living in Jordan. The women who had to go to Jordan are in a difficult position. Just imagine how much spiritual support a women needs after losing her spouse, children and family. We need more basic supplies. Providing lodging, clothes and food will help the Syrians forget their pain and problems, Tayfur emphasized. We believe that the women in Turkey are the group in the world that can understand us best. Turkey is a world leader when it comes to civil society. Turkey's sharing its experiences with us is crucial, Tayfur also said. (Reporting by Bulent Doruk)
