TAT to hold slow life cycling event
BANGKOK, Jan 18 (TNA) -- The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is set to hold a slow life cycling event, inviting the public to follow in His late Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej's footsteps to the 12 hidden gems tourists shouldn't miss in Thailand.
Deputy Governor for Domestic Tourism Marketing of TAT Ms Sujitra Jongchansitto said that the TAT is scheduled to organise the Slow Life Cycling Event, aimed to help stimulate domestic tourism, while helping to keep up with the current trend for cycling lovers, as well as ensure that the country's tourism goal of becoming a hub for sports tourism in the ASEAN region is achieved.
The event would take bike riders through the 12 provinces which are the Can't-miss Cities -Lampang, Nan, Loei, Trang, Chantaburi, Trat, Phetchabun, Ratchaburi, Nakhong Si Thammarat, Buriram, Chumphon, and Samut Songkhram.
She noted that the upcoming event would be special because the riders would be able to experience all the places in which His late Majesty had been to, and get the chance to learn more about HM King Bhumibol's philosophy and enjoy the natural beauty of local nature, as well as visit the famous tourist destinations in each province and experience local culture and traditions.
The main target group for the event is those who love slow life and healthy lifestyle, in which the activity would focus on the learning of each unique culture and tradition in each location, which in turn, would help to promote domestic tourism in line with the Tourism and Sport Ministry's goal of turning the country into a hub for sports tourism in ASEAN.
