TAT holds Chinese New Year celebrations
BANGKOK, Jan 28 (TNA) -- The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is celebrating the Chinese New Year 2017 by organising a Chinese New Year Festival with a touch of Thainess at Lumpini Park, aiming to allow visitors to catch glimpse of ancient Chinese traditions and celebratory atmosphere during the New Year.
The objective of the festival, apart from to celebrate the year of the Rooster, is to celebrate the 42nd anniversary of the Thai-Chinese diplomatic relations, as well as cooperation between Thailand's TAT and China's Culture Ministry.
The Chinese New Year event was a part of Thailand Tourism Festival 2017 scheduled from January 25-29.
To celebrate the 2017 Chinese New Year, TAT has brought in all communities of Chinese descendants from across the country to Lumpini Park, presenting them with a stage to showcase how each community celebrate the Chinese New Year, in a bid to create a lively atmosphere for visitors, along with allow them to experience the traditions of each community from every region of the country.
Visitors would also be able to taste the best and most popular food from Yaowarat or Bangkok China Town.
The entrance into the festival, meanwhile, is adorn with red Chinese lanterns, an ancient Chinese belief that red lanterns mean richness and prosperity, while a 40-metre long dragon, symbolising good luck as fortune, was also decorated at the entrance gates.(TNA)
