TAT organises Chinese New Year festivities
BANGKOK. Jan 21 (TNA) -- The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and the Chinese embassy in Thailand will jointly organise Chinese New Year festivities throughout the kingdom and to also celebrate a 42nd anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Governor of TAT Yuthasak Supasorn and Chen Jiang, a cultural adviser at Bangkok’s Chinese embassy, jointly told a press conference on Friday that TAT and China’s Ministry of Culture would jointly organise festivities throughout Thailand.
In an attempt to allow Thais of Chinese origin to have an opportunity to worship Chinese gods, respected gods from Chinese temples such as from Chon Buri province would be brought to the ‘Thailand Tourism Festival’ which will be held at Bangkok’s Lumpini Park between January 25 – 29, said Mr Yuthasak.
Delicious Chinese food from Bangkok’s China Town will be installed at the festival, he said.
A similar celebrations will be held in other provinces including Nakhon Sawan, Udon Thani, Pattaya of Chon Buri, Nakhon Ratchasima, Ratchaburi, Ayutthaya and Phuket.
About 825,000 foreign tourists are projected to visit Thailand for Chinese New Year celebration between January 27 – February 2, up four per cent from the corresponding period last year.
The country is expected to earn 19.1 billion baht. (TNA)
