Tehran biennial hangs works of Persian painting masters
TEHRAN,Nov. 24 (MNA) -- An exhibition displaying a collection of Persian paintings by master miniaturists was opened at the Saba Art and Cultural Institute on Tuesday as part of the Iranian National Biennial of Persian Paintings.
A collection of 58 Persian paintings by 35 Iranian master miniaturists is on show on the side section of the 8th edition of the festival, the major section of which is slated to open in Isfahan on November 26.
The masters and veterans of Persian paintings are the invaluable credits for the Iranian visual arts, Iran’s Office for Visual Arts Director Mahmud Shaluii said at the opening ceremony.
He said that this is the first time the Isfahan Museum of Contemporary Art will be hosting the biennial.
Director of the biennial Mohammad-Ali Rajabi also present at the ceremony said that the visiting works created by the masters have always acted like teachers instructing a class of students.
Rajabi expressed hope that the biennial helps artists to conduct more research in the field of visual arts.
He also hoped that art would find ways into the society since art makes a society more dynamic.
Works by masters Abbas Jamalpur, Mehrdad Sadri, Nasrin Aqamiri, Nushin Nazari, Mohammad-Baqer Aqamiri, Mina Moradi and several others are on the show at the institute located on Mozaffar St., off Taleqani Ave. near Felestin Square.
