Tehran gallery to hang 100 years of Iranian film posters

TEHRAN,Dec.28(MNA) -- A collection of 50 posters selected from the recently-published book “A Hundred Year of Film Adverts and Film Posters in Iran” will open in an exhibition in Tehran’s Vijeh Gallery on Friday. Complied by Masud Mehrabi, the book contains over 600 posters and advertisements of Iranian films since 1907 up to 2011 in exquisite printing in Persian and English. The Iranian Artists Forum hosted an exhibition of the posters in November for a short time, and now Vijeh Gallery has decisions to display a selection of the posters. The exhibit will be running for one week and several sessions are also expected to be arranged on the side section. “Happiness and unhappiness, life is mixed. An individual can not choose. It is not like a supermarket to pay more and choose the best. The story of ups and downs in history, in civilization and culture of nations is also the same, the pieces can find a meaning if being arranged beside one another,” reads part of the book. “Narrating only the good moments, the happiness and beauties of history is too unfair, and it is not fair if we only choose to only reflect the bad moments and the ugliness. The book carries the same attitude, things are mixed,” the introduction adds. It continues, “The collection does not narrate the history of a century of Iran’s graphic designs and cinema, but contains the history of rejection, acceptance, and the social and cultural conflicts. The history of film poster in Iran is said to be as old as its history of cinema.” The 498-page book, which is released by the Nazar Printing and Publishing Institute, is an appropriate source for students, art fans and scholars. The gallery is located on No.5, 3rd Alley, Arabali Ave, off Khorramshahr St.
