Tehran hosts art festival highlighting Islamic celebrations
TEHRAN,Nov.8 (MNA) -- An Iranian artistic festival is celebrating the two great celebrations of Muslims, Eid al-Adha and Eid al-Ghadir, by displaying artworks and with musical performances.
The festival was inaugurated at the Saba Art and Cultural Institute here on Sunday in the presence of Iranian Deputy Culture Minister for Artistic Affairs Hamid Shahabadi and secretary of the event Shahram Gilabadi.
Displaying a variety of art including painting, poster, miniature, photo, pottery, ceramic and more, the opening ceremony began with a solo performance by setar virtuoso Jalal Zolfonun.
Majid Ziyaii, Manijeh Armin, and Jafar Najibi are participating in the earthenware section of the festival.
Posters by Ebrahim Haqiqi, Mohammad Khazaii, and Kurosh Parsanejad are also on display.
Several artists, including calligrapher Nasrollah Afjei, musician Shahin Farhat, and photographer Jamshid Bayrami and painter Mohammadreza Farzaneh, are due to be honored in a program arranged on the side section of the festival during the week.
Masters Ahmad Vakili, Ahmad Khalilifard, and Reza Hedayat are also displaying their paintings at the festival.
The festival also includes several musical performances in Tehran’s Vahdat Hall and Rudaki Hall.
Several maqami performances as well as regional music and solo performances are arranged for the week.
Eid al-Ghadir, the day on which Imam Ali (AS) was appointed as successor to the Prophet Muhammad (S) falls on November 15 this year.
