Terror suspects to stand trial

Manama, Mar. 20 (BNA): Chief of the Terror Crime Prosecution Advocate General Chancellor Ahmed Al Hammadi said investigation was completed into forming a terrorist gang named "the Secret Intelligence Authority for Revolution in Bahrain, with the acronym "SIA". Eleven suspects, seven in custody, were referred for trial on charges of setting up a terrorist gang, joining it, torture, arresting and detaining a person and using force with him, kidnap, forced theft and promoting a terrorist crime. The case will be heard by the High Criminal Court on April 12, 2018. The terrorist gang (SIA) was set up to kidnap people suspected of cooperating with the security bodies, detain them and extract their confession under duress through torture and coerce. It aims to spread panic among people and terrorize them to prevent them from communicating with the security bodies. The gang abducted, detained, robbed and tortured a number of persons in many incidents. The suspects were identified, arrested and referred to the Public Prosecution which relied in referring them to the court on verbal evidence, including the witnesses' testimonies, as well as technical and medical evidence, reports of the Forensic Evidence Directorate and the suspects' confessions.
