Terror suspects to stand trial on April 14

Manama, March 14 (BNA): The Chief of Terror Crimes Prosecution, Advocate General Ahmed Al Hammadi, today said that investigations into the activities of a terrorist group within Bahrain had concluded.
The Advocate General said that 15 suspects had been identified, of which five are being held in custody, and that they had been referred to the High Criminal Court on counts of assembling and operating a terrorist group, possessing explosive materials and carrying out bomb attacks.
Al Hammadi stated that investigations, which began in September, indicated that the group’s members were responsible for a series of terrorist incidents that took place throughout 2014 and 2015. The investigations also found that one of the suspects, who remains a fugitive outside Bahrain, recruited members of the group and supplied financial support and the materials required to carry out the terrorist attacks.
The Advocate General confirmed that the case would be heard at the High Criminal Court on April 14, and that the defendants continue to be afforded full legal rights, as protected by Bahraini law.
