Thai army activist vows peaceful Bangkok rally

BANGKOK, October 28 (TNA) - Head of Thailand’s advocacy group “Pitak Siam”, General Boonlert Kaewprasit, confirms Sunday’s anti-government protest at the Royal Turf Club in Bangkok will be brief and non-violent. The movement will underline to public the government’s underperformance in administration, including alleged failures to tackle offences made to the Thai royal family as well as corruption. General Boonlert says a public petition will be held to gather signatures of Sunday’s supporters. A similar rally may also be held again in 4 weeks, he says, depending on the number of demonstrators. Updated reports suggest that about 600 policemen have been deployed near the vicinity to keep order. (TNA)
