Thai authorities intercept over 30 illegal workers
BANGKOK, October 28 (TNA) - Immigration authorities in Thailand on Sunday intercepted thirty-eight illegal Cambodian workers at the border province of Sa Kaeo.
The arrest was made near Khlong Phrom Hod canal in Aranyaprathet’s Ban Khlong Luek village by paramilitary rangers from the Burapha Task Force and police.
Authorities learned that the workers were en route to Poipet town in Cambodia’s Banteay Meanchey province.
They had worked in Thailand’s Rayong and Chon Buri provinces, but were returning home to renew their ID cards ahead of Cambodia’s general election next year in order to seek membership of a political party in return for a sum of money.
The 38 Cambodians had been taken into custody at the Sa Kaeo immigration police bureau. (TNA)
