Thai government blames ill-intentioned group for bomb attacks
BANGKOK, Aug 13 (TNA) -- Thai government blames ill-intentioned group for staging the recent attacks in Thailand aiming to discredit the government, stirring chaos and destroying the country’s image.
Multiple coordinated bombs and fires have hit various locations in Thailand’s south causing at least three deaths and dozens of people injured as the nation is celebrating Mother’s Day on Friday.
Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha told reporters that there were ill-intentioned group trying to hurt the country and urged people to help maintain peace.
Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan said after calling a high-level meeting Friday afternoon that the attacks were unlikely carried out by insurgent groups in the deep south.
The series of attacks beginning Thursday night was launched in Trang, Hua Hin town of Pachuap Khiri Khan, Surat Thani, and Patong town of Phuket.
No one has claimed responsibility but police and security agencies have not identify
An explosion killed a man and injured six others at the Center Point shopping mall in Trang at 3 pm on Thursday.
Two explosions hit the seaside resort town of Hua Hin town late Thursday night, killing a Thai woman and injuring 21 Thai and foreign tourists.
On Friday, two bombs exploded in front of the marine police station and Surat Thani police station in the provincial seat, killing one person and injuring many other.
Nearly at the same time, one was injured in an explosion on Patong beach on Phuket. Police safely disposed another bomb at the Loma beach. (TNA)
