Thai government urged to inculcate people on cyber threats

BANGKOK, August 3 (TNA) - The Israeli government has proposed that the Thai government widely provide information to the public on growing cyber threats, as the Internet will connect the world to become an immense borderless platform more closely in the future.
Speaking at a seminar on cyber security and safety, organized in Bangkok on August 2 by the Department of Economic and Trade of the Israeli Embassy to Thailand, Ruth Shoham, Executive Director for Strategy and Capability Building Cyber of the National Cyber Directorate, under the Israeli Prime Minister's Office, acknowledged that the present borderless world will be even connected more closely and sufficient and proper information on cyber threats must be, thus, provided to the public.
Shoham reasoned that the growing cyber threats, in line with the more closely borderless world in the coming years, will involve and affect all public and private sectors inevitably.
Shoham cited her country as an example, saying that the Israeli government has paid attention to create proper knowledge and understanding on the growing cyber threats to
people in all domestic sectors through a wide and sufficient access to relevant information.
According to the senior Israeli official, there are now, for instance, 65 schools in her country that have offered cyber courses to their students.
Besides, there are about 180 cyber research centers and 420 firms across Israel that run cyber security and safety services.
Meanwhile, Dr. Urachada Ketprom, Director of the Thailand-based ASEAN Cybersecurity Training Center, told Thursday's seminar that the Thai government will promulgate two new bills on cyber security and safety and privacy protection to the public in the near future. (TNA)
